Summary: We offer a 14-day refund window for unused AI credits and subscription payments. Once credits are consumed (i.e., used to generate images, videos, or stories), they are non-refundable. This policy complies with applicable consumer protection laws, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive and U.S. state consumer protection statutes.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Refund Policy applies to all purchases made through OpenArt Studio (openartai.io), including monthly and annual subscription plans (Starter at $9/month, Pro at $20/month, Business at $49/month) and any one-time credit purchases. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service.
2. AI Credits — How They Work
OpenArt Studio operates on a credit-based system. When you subscribe to a paid plan, you receive a monthly allocation of credits that can be used to generate AI content:
- Image Generation Credits: Each image generation consumes one credit from your monthly image allocation
- Story Generation Credits: Each illustrated story consumes one credit from your monthly story allocation
- Video Generation Credits: Each video generation consumes one credit from your monthly video allocation
Credits are allocated at the start of each billing cycle and reset monthly. Unused credits do not roll over to the next billing period.
3. 14-Day Refund Window for Unused Credits
We want you to be satisfied with OpenArt Studio. If you are not satisfied with our service, you may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of your initial purchase or subscription renewal, provided that:
- You have not consumed any credits (i.e., you have not generated any images, videos, or stories during the current billing period)
- You submit your refund request within the 14-day window via email to support@openartai.io or through our contact form
- Your account is in good standing (not suspended or terminated for policy violations)
If you meet all the above conditions, we will process a full refund to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
4. Non-Refundable: Consumed Credits
Once AI credits have been consumed (i.e., used to generate content), they are non-refundable. This is because:
- Each generation request incurs real computational costs from third-party AI providers (Google Imagen, Google Gemini, Runware)
- Generated content is immediately delivered to you and cannot be “returned”
- AI generation is a digital service that is fully performed upon delivery
By initiating a content generation, you acknowledge and agree that the credit is consumed and non-refundable upon delivery of the generated content.
5. Partial Refunds
If you have consumed some but not all of your credits within the 14-day refund window, we may offer a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription at our discretion. The prorated amount will be calculated as:
Refund Amount = (Unused Credits / Total Credits Allocated) × Subscription Price
To request a prorated refund, contact us at support@openartai.io with your account email and reason for the request.
6. Subscription Cancellation
6.1 How to Cancel
You may cancel your subscription at any time through:
- Stripe Customer Portal: Access your billing dashboard through your account settings to manage or cancel your subscription
- Email: Send a cancellation request to support@openartai.io
- Contact Form: Submit a request through our contact page
6.2 Effect of Cancellation
- Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period
- You will retain access to all features and remaining credits until the billing period ends
- No further charges will be made after cancellation
- Your account will revert to the Free tier at the end of the billing period
- Previously generated content saved to your gallery will remain accessible
6.3 No Refund for Partial Months
If you cancel mid-billing-cycle and have already consumed credits, no refund will be issued for the remaining days in the billing period. You will continue to have access to the service until the end of your paid period.
7. Exceptions and Special Circumstances
We may issue refunds outside the standard 14-day window in the following circumstances:
- Service Outage: If OpenArt Studio experiences a prolonged service outage (more than 72 consecutive hours) that prevents you from using your credits, we will issue a prorated refund or extend your billing period
- Billing Error: If you are charged incorrectly (e.g., duplicate charge, wrong amount), we will correct the error and issue a full refund for the overcharge within 5 business days
- Unauthorized Charges: If your payment method was charged without your authorization, contact us immediately. We will investigate and reverse any unauthorized transactions
- Technical Failure: If a generation fails due to a platform error (not a content moderation filter), the credit will not be deducted from your account, or will be restored automatically
8. Free Tier
The Free tier provides limited monthly credits at no cost. Since no payment is made for Free tier usage, no refund applies. If you experience issues with the Free tier, please contact our support team for assistance.
9. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please follow these steps:
- Send an email to support@openartai.io with the subject line “Refund Request”
- Include the email address associated with your OpenArt Studio account
- Provide the date of the charge and the amount
- Briefly describe the reason for your refund request
We will review your request and respond within 48 hours. Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days and will appear on your original payment method.
10. Chargebacks and Disputes
We strongly encourage you to contact us directly before filing a chargeback or dispute with your bank or credit card company. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in:
- Immediate suspension of your OpenArt Studio account
- Loss of access to all generated content and credits
- Additional fees passed through from payment processors
We are committed to resolving all billing issues promptly and fairly. In most cases, we can resolve your concern faster than a bank dispute process.
11. Consumer Protection Rights
This refund policy does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws. If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), including:
- A 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content purchases, unless you have expressly consented to the performance of the service and acknowledged the loss of withdrawal rights
- The right to a remedy if digital content does not conform to the contract
If you are located in Australia, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by this policy. For residents of other jurisdictions, local consumer protection laws may provide additional rights.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. We will notify subscribers of material changes via email at least 14 days in advance. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
